Woman Locked in Church Tweets Her Way Out
A woman praying solo in a U.K. church was saved on Sunday by the higher power of Twitter, which she turned to after being accidentally locked inside the house of worship by a volunteer that morning.

I was in private praying chapel & when I came out, everyone was gone & doors locked. #Plymouth #help,” tweeted Sarah Greep, a jam maker and mother of two who is based in the English seaside city of Plymouth, in Devon.More on Yahoo!: Say No to the Report Button on Twitter

For the next few hours, Greep, owner of the regionally popular Janner Jam company, alternately tried calling people and tweeting about being trapped, which she didn’t seem to mind all that much.
“Trying to think of best way to get out of this church with minimum disruption. It's quite calm & peaceful in here so in no hurry,” she wrote. “Just hope there's not a fire! Unlikely at least. There's drink, water, wine & so on, but no toilet.” Greep explained in a later tweet that the bathrooms, along with the fire doors, were locked. After first making some unsuccessful attempts to call church volunteers, whose names and numbers were listed in the back of a pamphlet—and because her phone battery was low and service was cutting in and outGreep decided to turn to a medium with a bit more reach.

She even managed to make a video, which she later uploaded to YouTube. “I didn’t know they shut-shut churches. I didn’t know that churches got locked,” she mused onscreen, while strolling around inside the vast sanctuary. “Especially not a prominent one like St. Andrew’s Church in the middle of the city center on a Sunday, so, I don’t know, maybe it’s partly my fault.” Yahoo! Shine could not reach anyone at the church for comment Monday.
Greep seemed to only panic slightly when someone tweeted to her that the next service didn’t start until 6:30pm. “Will be drunk on holy wine by then,” she wrote, clearly staying buoyed by her sense of humor.
“I am calm don't worry, it's one of the least stressful most peaceful places to be. I've just spoke to a warden on phone she later added.
A local politician, council leader Tudor Evans, eventually noticed her cry for help and contacted the police. They in turn found the church’s keeper of the key, who was able to free Greep—who, ironically, arrived home to find that she was locked out. I'm locked out of home now!! No key to get in so will have to stay out! One extreme to another!” she tweeted, continuing to fill followers in on her endlessly frustrating day.
Greep’s saga quickly went viral, inspiring a slew of coverage across the UK, as well as amusing, pun-laden tweets and hashtags, including, “#jannerjamfailstoleavedoorajar,” “#freethestandrewsone” and “#inabitofajam. On Monday, she also added the intriguing tweet that there were "some things I haven't told anyone about what happened in the church! When Yahoo! Shine emailed Greep for the details on thatalong with how she dealt for so long without bathroom access she responded that she was "inundated" with requests.
One tweeter weighed in on the story Monday by noting, This has all the hallmarks of a Miss Marple mystery." Another posted a link to Greep's tale as written by the Age, writing, "There's a moral in this story here. Somewhere. The jam maker spoke with the Plymouth Herald soon after she’d been freed Sunday.
“I just went into the small chapel at St Andrew’s Church where I sometimes go, and didn’t think for one minute they were going to close the door,” she explained. “It was nice and calm and the sun was shining through the stained glass windows. I didn’t want to bother anyone but thought I would just send a few tweets, as it was a bit unusual. The next thing I know Tudor Evans is calling the police to help get me out!”
Finally, she added on Twitter, “I was fine. It was unexpected amusement for all!

Musician JJ Cale dies; wrote Clapton, Skynyrd hits
If musicians were measured not by the number of records they sold but by the number of peers they influenced, JJ Cale would have been a towering figure in 1970s rock 'n' roll.
His best songs like "After Midnight,Cocaine and "Call Me the Breeze" were towering hits for other artists. Eric Clapton took "After Midnight" and Cocain and turned them into the kind of hard-party anthems that defined rock for a long period of time. And Lynyrd Skynyrd took the easy-shuffling "Breeze" and supercharged it with a three-guitar attack that made it a hit.
Cale, the singer-songwriter and producer known as the main architect of the Tulsa Sound, passed away Friday night at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, Calif. His manager, Mike Kappus, said Cale died of a heart attack. He was 74.While his best known songs remain in heavy rotation on the radio nearly 40 years later, most folks wouldn't be able to name Cale as their author. That was a role he had no problem with.
"No, it doesn't bother me, Cale said with a laugh in an interview posted on his website. "What's really nice is when you get a check in the mail. And the checks rolled in for decades. The list of artists who covered his music or cite him as a direct influence reads like a who's who of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Clapton, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Mark Knopfler, The Allman Brothers, Carlos Santana, Captain Beefheart and Bryan Ferry among many others.Young said in Jimmy McDonough's biography Shakey that Cale and Jimi Hendrix were the best guitar players he had ever heard. And in his recent memoir "Waging Heavy Peace, Young said Cale's "Crazy Mama his biggest hit, rising to No. 22 on the Billboard singles chart was one of the five songs that most influenced him as a songwriter: "The song is true, simple, and direct, and the delivery is very natural. JJ's guitar playing is a huge influence on me. His touch is unspeakable
It was Clapton who forged the closest relationship with Cale. They were in sync musically and personally. Clapton also recorded Cale songs "Travelin' Light" and "I'll Make Love To You Anytime" and included the Cale composition "Angel" on his most recent album, "Old Sock." Other songs like "Layla" didn't involve Cale, but clearly owe him a debt. The two also collaborated together on "The Road to Escondido," which won the Grammy Award for best contemporary blues album in 2008.Clapton once told Vanity Fair that Cale was the living person he most admired, and Cale weighed the impact Clapton had on his life in a 2006 interview with The Associated Press: "I'd probably be selling shoes today if it wasn't for Eric."
That quote was typical of the always humble Cale. But while Clapton was already a star when he began mining Cale's catalog, there's no doubt the music they shared cemented his "Clapton is God" status and defined the second half of his career.
As hard as I've tried I've never really succeeded in getting a record to sound like him and that's what I want, Clapton said in a "Fast Focus" video interview to promote "Escondido. Before I go under the ground, I want to make a JJ Cale album with him at the helm.Clapton described Cale's music as a strange hybrid. It's not really blues, it's not really folk or country or rock 'n' roll. It's somewhere in the middle.Cale arrived at that intersection by birth. Born John Weldon Cale in Oklahoma City, he was raised in Tulsa. Buffeted by country and western on one side and the blues on the other, Oklahoma offered a melting pot of styles. Cale leaned on those styles as he spent his formative years in Los Angeles and Nashville, but he also used drum machines and often acted as his own producer, engineer and session player. He'd bury his own whispery vocals in the mix, causing the listener to lean in and focus.
" think it goes back to me being a recording mixer and engineer," Cale said in a 2009 biography on his website. "Because of all the technology now you can make music yourself and a lot of people are doing that now. I started out doing that a long time ago and I found when I did that I came up with a unique sound.Talbott reported from Nashville, Tenn. Gunfire triggers rapper Rick Ross crash, police say
Los Angeles -- "Teflon Don" rapper Rick Ross crashed his silver Rolls Royce into an apartment building after he heard gunfire along a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, street Monday morning, police said.
"The driver of the Rolls Royce attempted to drive away from the direction of the shots being fired and lost control of the vehicle, striking a nearby apartment building," Fort Lauderdale Police Detective DeAnna Garcia said.Ross and a female passenger were not hurt by the wreck or the gunshots, Garcia said."The suspects fled from the area prior to police arrival," she said. The incident, however, called attention to threats against the artist's life made in a street gang's videos and posted online in recent months."We're pulling up on you," a man who identified himself as a member of the Gangster Disciples warned in one of the videos. "Whatever city, whatever state, the pressure on."Several videos purporting to be from Gangster Disciple members in several states -- including Georgia, North Carolina and Florida -- appeared on YouTube late last year demanding that Ross pay a fee to them for his use of the Star of David, which they claim as a gang symbol, and a reference to one of their founders in his music and marketing."You got to cut the check," one video said. "Tell your boss man he got to get that check, or all you in trouble.""We need that cash right now," another said.Ross, 37, whose albums include "Teflon Don" in 2010 and "Deeper Than Rap" a year earlier, told south Florida radio station 99 Jamz last month that he was not intimidated by the threats."Ain't never no checks getting cut," he said. "I don't play those games. I consider that extortion."Is Nas hip-hop's finest MC?
Ross did cancel his North Carolina shows last month just days after a video appeared online threatening his life if he performed there.Never was it due to any threats," he told the radio station. Instead, he canceled because "the promoter wasn't really handling his business.Ross wanted to make certain that listeners understood he was not frightened. "Don't ever get it twisted, Ricky Ross is the boss," he said. The death threats are not the only challenge to Ross. A former drug lord and gang leader is suing in a Los Angeles court, accusing him of stealing his name and reputation. The reality is I want justice done," the original Ross wrote in an e-mail to CNN. "I know that he took his name and image from my life and believe he is unfairly profiting off my story.Ricky "Freeway" Ross was serving a prison sentence a decade ago when rapper William Roberts, who previously worked as a Florida correctional officer, adopted "Rick Ross" as his stage name, according to the lawsuit.his rapper and his labels clearly knew of my name and story, and have tried to suck out the lifeblood without license," the former drug lord said. "I have my own use for my intellectual property and did not need this confusion created."More recently, the rapper has been using the name "Ricky Rozay."The rapper and his record label have not responded to CNN's request for comment.
Despite the death threats and legal issues, his music is doing well. Ross is nominated for a best rap album Grammy for his latest release, "God Forgives, I Don't.

Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor Tone Down Pop Personas For President Obama’s Inauguration
President Barack Obama was treated to a triumphant assortment of musical entertainment from Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, James Taylor, the Marine Band and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir during his Inauguration
ceremony on Monday.Grammy winner Beyoncé, who sang “The Star-Spangled Banner,” offered the most theatrical performance. The “Single Ladies” singer dressed in a sheer black gown appeared more serious than normal as she approached the podium.Like a scene from movie Evita, the singer who performed Etta James' "At Last" at Obama's first Inauguration in 2009 took a moment to pan the crowd with an emotionless expression before belting the song’s opening lyric, “Oh, say can you see...”
Accompanied by the Marine Band, Beyoncé opted to stick with a more traditional arrangement of the National Anthem. She kept her vocal runs to a minimum, resisting the over-singing her fans are accustomed to hearing on her radio hits
As the song progressed, Beyoncé relaxed and smiled, possibly relieved that the performance was going so well. By song’s end, she nodded her head as if to note victory before turning to greet the President.
Kelly Clarkson, who also sang with the Marine Band and is nominated for four Grammys this year, took a few more liberties with her rendition of “America (My Country ‘Tis Of Thee).” Clarkson’s version was driven by the Marine Band’s dominating wind instruments and her efforts to find an arrangement that settled between classical and popular music.
Like Beyoncé, however, Clarkson elected not to muddle the song with unnecessary ad-libs.
James Taylor’s acoustic version of “America The Beautiful” was brief but endearing.
Taylor played guitar as he sang the patriotic song that evoked an approving grin from the President. After his performance, Taylor greeted the Commander In Chief with a hug.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir provided the opening musical number for the event, singing, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” As the choir began its classical rendition, President Obama smiled as if he had a special connection to the hymn.

Rock Star With 'Curable' Dementia Nearly Loses Career
Dick Wagner had enjoyed a successful life on stage, playing lead guitar for bands like Alice Cooper, Aerosmith and Kiss, when he had a stroke and a heart attack in 2007.I woke up from a coma after two
weeks with a paralyzed left arm," said Wagner, now 70 and living in Arizona. "My profession as a guitarist, I thought was over.He and Cooper co-wrote the majority of the band's top-selling songs, including the 1975 hit, "Welcome to My Nightmare. But Wagner's own personal horror show had just begun. He worked hard at rehabilitation, but new symptoms began to appear: mental fuzziness and an odd gait.
"I couldn't turn to the left as I walked, only to the right, and I would do a spiral and fall," he said. "I fell completely flat on my face in the driveway on the concrete. I didn't know what had happened to me."
Another fall by his swimming pool precipitated a blood clot and surgery. Wagner was convinced his career was over. But in 2011, Wagner was diagnosed with NPH, or normal pressure hydrocephalus, a condition caused by a build-up of spinal fluid in the ventricles of the brain, which puts pressure on nerves that control the legs, bladder and cognitive function.Doctors at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix surgically placed a shunt in his head to redirect the fluid through a tube under the skin to his abdominal cavity. A small amount is drained every day for the rest of his life. Now, Wagner is back on tour with a band in Denmark.
"I am like a new man almost overnight," he said. "For five years, I couldn't even pick up a guitar -- I didn't have the strength or the coordination.NPH is a condition that typically strikes after the age of 55 and often mimics the dementia of Alzheimer's and the impaired motor skills of Parkinson's disease.
An estimated 5 percent of all dementia patients actually have NPH, which is correctable, according to Dr. Joseph M. Zabramski, the neurosurgeon who placed Wagner's shunt at Barrow.
In Wagner's case, it wasn't the initial stroke that deprived him of his musical ability, but NPH, which took away his coordination and timing. The stroke he suffered usually produces relatively mild deficits, and over time patients are able to resume most normal activities," Zabramski said. "Dick cannot raise his left arm as well as he used to, but his fine motor function in his left hand is excellent.Music is Dick's life and so he tried to resume playing but couldn't," Zabramski said. "Once we had the shunt in place I saw the improvements. ... Gradually, much to my pleasure, the old Dick Wagner returned. An estimated 200,000 to 400,000 Americans suffer from NPH, a number that is on the rise because of an aging population, according to Zabramski, who is chief of cerebrovascular surgery at Barrow.
NPH is diagnosed with a CT scan or MRI, followed by a spinal tap to drain fluid from the brain. If the patient's condition improves, NPH is the likely cause.
The reason NPH is easy to miss is that the "triad of symptoms" are so insidious: difficulty walking, failing memory and urinary urgency, all of which go hand in hand with old age.
"None of us wants to admit there is anything wrong when we have a little trouble walking and balancing," Zabramski said. "We just think we are getting older. It's not until it progresses and threatens our independence that we seek evaluation."
Such was the case with Alicia Harper of Orlando, Fla., an active 74-year-old who played piano and organized programs at her church.
"I was losing sleep and confused," said the mother of four and grandmother of eight. "I didn't recognize my own house -- not even my own bed."
For six years, she ignored the symptoms of memory loss and incontinence, as her husband struggled nightly to get her to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
"We thought she was just starting to get old and disoriented," said her husband Nildo Harper, now 83. "She was just sort of absent."
Her right hand and foot shook so badly that she could no longer read or play piano. She ended up in a wheelchair.

Fakhir’s new song is available now
KARACHI:
Pop singer Faakhir Mehmood is back with his new song “Kho Jaon” directed by Sohail Javed, a Lux Style award winner. The theme of the song revolves around 10 different moods of girls to celebrate beauty; the music video features nine gorgeous girls from Veet’s Miss Super Model contest and the queen of all divas, film-star Meera, wearing Fahad Hussain’s collection.
The video will go on-air November 16 almost on every major channel of Pakistan. The song “Kho Jaon” showcases the female contestants who were selected from all over Pakistan and short-listed for Veet’s Miss Super Model competition.
Faakhir entered the music industry in 1992 as a part of the group Awaz, with Haroon Rashid and Asad Ahmed.
