We wanted a simple way to customize our complete Se7en OS, so we created 7tsp. The patcher will back up the original (current) system files, and patch your Windows 7 with a resource pack. There are official color packs available for download and users have created some cool custom themes. It's possible to create your own custom Theme/Icon pack's and apply them with the 7tsp GUI. Modifications can include icons, bitmaps, cursors, visual style, Start button, side panel, logon screen, sounds, fonts, task manager colors, copy animation colors, etc.

The Installer Version is exactly the same as the portable version, only it will be installed in your Program Files folder and optionally creates Menu Start shortcuts.

Since this is a version and we're very actively working on it, much still has to be done and updates will be released often. (keep track of the build number) More options and modded resources will be added along the way.

Options

Patching: Patch your Windows 7

The main function of this tool is ofcourse the patching of your Windows with a custom Theme Pack. After adding a Custom Theme Pack, previews will appear in the GUI to give you a feel of the pack (when provided). Hereafter, you can set the options to your preferences and hit 'Start Patching'.

Restore: Restore menu with multiple options.

 You can choose to restore the patched files to the backup made at 7tsp's first run, or to restore all or one system file(s) to Windows default.These options can also be reached through Program> Restore Backup and SFC/Scan.For extra security, the patcher creates a Restore Point every time you patch your system.This can be disable in the Options menu.It is also possible to manually create a Restore Point (Program > Create Restore Point).

Clean Icon Cache:

When not all icons have changed, you can manually clean the icon and thumbnail cache to refresh these.

Debug log:

Here you can select whether or not a debug log should be created. This is useful for pack creators, to debug resfiles.

Logon Screen:

You can select whether the Logon screen should be patched or not, and you can also select a custom file.Side Panel:You can select whether the Side Panel should be patched or not, and you can also select a custom file.

Menu Start Orb:

You can select whether the Menu Start Orb should be patched or not, and you can also select a custom file.

The XP Theme Source Patcher application was designed to improve the Graphical interface of Windows XP. Sme 370+ files have resources that this application replaces and/or modifies, and another 100+ files are simply replaced. Images, animations and icons that have been extracted from Vista are included in the Green XPtsp theme package.

Some tools are used, for without these tools, this application could not exist. The most used tool is Resource Hacker, which is used to replace resources in the system files. The modified CABLITE.DLL by Code65536is also included and is responsible for all CAB manipulation. MKISOFS is included in order to create ISO images for the user.

The patcher can also install optional components, such as:
- Windows Vista wallpaper (top screenshot on right)

SysSetup:

 Though for visual completeness Texts from syssetup.dll,  if present in the same directory as the selected  winntbbu.dll, are displayed, they are, at least at the  moment, not editable.

Pictures:  

There are no validation Checks on the Bitmaps  that you might use, so have to take care yourself.  All Pictures are limited to the use of Bitmap Images.  Every Bitmap has a display in the pictures editor  with its current size, hold the mouse over that,  and you will get a tip with the size microsoft has  intended.

Fonts:  

The font that you use MUST be present and registered  at the time of setup.  Since only Fontname and Fontsize are stored in the .dll  even though the dialog for fonts allows it, you cant use  styles like bold etc.

Not all XP themes you download from the Internet run on your computer without a glitch. Some of them only work partially, for example only the desktop background and icons, others don't work at all. That is because Microsoft protects their branding by adding digital signatures to all officially agreed themes. 

SP3 UxTheme Patcher comes to the rescue of the XP theme fan developer's community by removing this protection. The application unlocks full XP theme customization by automatically replacing the uxtheme.dll located in the Windows/System32 folder.

Really, all you have to do is run the basic installer and then restart the machine. It's that simple. No system messages, no complicated file search, no manual file replacement, bottom line, no headaches for the user.

Despite all that, we strongly recommended to make a backup of the uxtheme.dll file before installing the application, and eventually a restore point . This is highly advisable since if you encounter any post installation issues, such as black screens, logon problems, error messages, you should have the possibility to restore the original file.

Some of our users encountered such problems. We tested it on three different themes and only got a black screen on one of them while trying to open the start menu. Even so, it is best to always be able to revert to the initial file, after all, even the developer warns in the installer that you use the application at your own risk and that it may damage your system.

Other than that, it works just fine. We were able to test three different themes and convince ourselves of the application's capabilities. With SP3 UxTheme Patcher we got fresh new looks for the operating system, changing most of the graphical user interface elements, from menus to fonts.
